Figma Design Agent: AI Assistant for Collaborative Design
Figma has launched its Design Agent, a dedicated AI assistant built directly into the collaborative canvas. This new feature enables designers to work with AI natively on the Figma platform for the first time.
Built for Design Workflows
The Figma Design Agent is fine-tuned specifically for design tasks and understands:
- Your design system and components
- Team-specific tokens, standards, and best practices
- Direct manipulation workflows on the canvas
Unlike third-party AI tools, the agent lives directly on the canvas without requiring separate setup or context switching.
Key Capabilities
Explore Design Directions
- Generate multiple layout options simultaneously
- Try style variations and dark mode conversions
- Convert screens to different themes while maintaining design system consistency
Automate Repetitive Tasks
- Bulk-edit layers and apply components at scale
- Fill designs with realistic copy and imagery
- Rename variables for consistency across the file
Maintain Design Libraries
- Standardize naming conventions across libraries
- Update off-brand tokens to current design system
- Document components with all their states and variants
Collaboration & Feedback
